The McLauchlin Family papers are personal in nature and display the desire of a large family dispersed across Scotland, Canada, and the western United States, to remain in contact with each other primarily writing about family news and local conditions. Also included are records, primarily of patients, of the Home Medical & Surgical Infirmary. Some of these records date to the Korean War. The Robinson Family papers are primarily concerned with the operation of the Emerald Mining Company in Laramie County (now Platte County), Wyoming and personal letters related to Elizabeth Robinson. Some letters are between Robinson and her relative Susan Van Zandt of Cheyenne. Also included are photographs, postcards, scrapbooks and ledgers from both families.

Members of the Donaghy family came to Vermont, Iowa, and Utah from Ireland during the 19th century. It appears that at least the Vermont branch changed the spelling of the name to Donoway. Elizabeth (Donoway) Robinson was born in Vergennes, Vt., attended school there, and taught school in the area. She married Rowland T. The McLauchlin Family emigrated from the west of Scotland to Canada in the 19th century. Archibald McLauchlin and his wife Elizabeth (McKellar) moved from the province of Alberta to Wyoming in 1877 where they settled on the Davis Ranch. He died in 1906 and she died in 1897. One of their granddaughters, Elizabeth McLaughlin (1886-1965), grew up in Horse Creek, Wyoming and in Spearfish, South Dakota. She then came back to Wyoming and settled in Wheatland in 1906.
